If you have never been to the SHD and wish to look at documents in one of the reading rooms, please register on line so as to speed up the time taken to process and issue your library card.

This registration will also enable us to allocate you your library card number, which is essential for reserving documents.

Procedure:

1) on-line registration;

2) receipt of library card number from the SHD;

3) booking of visit and reservation of documents (optional if the document(s) required do not need to be reserved; unnecessary if you only wish to look at documents on normal display and listings available in the reading rooms);

4) collection of your library card from one of the SHD sites on the day of your initial visit.
